dedicated to educating the world about Canada
Premiering on Sunday, October 22, 2000, on CBC in Canada, A People's History of Canada, was the bold attempt to tell  the complete history of Canada to its viewers.  It ran for 9 weeks in  the 2000-01 season and was  picked up again in the Fall of 2001 for another 7 weeks.

A total of 16 episodes are now available to classrooms and teachers as a tool for educating  students on Canada and its rich heritage.

The first episode featured Kirkland Lake, Ontario native
Michael Mahonen, as 'John Jewitt', a 19 year old Englis sailor who is captured by Maquinna and eventually comes to an understanding with the fierce native Canadian chief.  They part as friends, and Mr. Mahonen, in character, reads from the actual journals of John Jewitt.
