*A Film based on the short story by Canadian novelist, Yann Martel.

*Starring Michael Riley, who won a Gemini for this role, as
the Author and Michael Mahonen, as Paul.

*Paul and 'Author' are good friends who met while attending Trent University.  The winter of Paul's first year, he comes down with a cold  and a dry hacking cough that doesn't seem to want to go away.

*8 months later, at the age of 19,  he is dead.

*When Paul was 15 years old, he and his family had been on a holiday in Jamaica.

*They had a traffic accident and Paul had been gashed in his left thigh.  He received a transfusion at the local hospital, as he had lost a large quantity of blood.

*Paul and 'Author' devise a game to while away the hours while Paul lay in his sick bed.

*This is what the storyline is about.

*The actual story is one of love, friendship and compassion.  Not merely an 'AIDs drama'.

*The screenplay follows the novel down to the smallest detail.  It is my favorite Michael Mahonen role.

*The novel is also excellent and unfortunately out of print. However I have a link onsite to alibris.com, which is a good 'oop' book source.

*Happy hunting!
