| TSFORD, B.C. (CP) -- Dwayne Archie Johnston, who killed Helen Betty Osborne 26 years ago, was granted full parole Friday. Johnston, 42, was already on day parole after serving 10 years of a life term for the the 1971 murder, which took place in The Pas, Manitoba. The case became notorious for its racial overtones because Osborne was aboriginal and there were suggestions townspeople knew who did the killing. |

| A tearful Cecilia Osborne trembled and held the hand of Manitoba's justice minister as she thanked his government for apologizing for the way officials handled the 1971 murder of her sister Helen Betty Osborne. "Well, for me I guess it's sort of letting go," Osborne said in a quiet voice in Winnipeg. |
